Bouclé, and the one thing nobody tells you.
Bouclé is a loop, and that is the whole story. The loop gives the texture, the softness and the light that makes it photograph so well. It also means the surface can be pulled: a claw, a ring, a zip catches a loop and lifts it. That is not a defect, it is the construction. A tighter loop with a higher abrasion figure survives family life; a large open loop belongs in a room that is looked at more than it is used. If you have a cat, choose velvet instead and keep bouclé for a chair.
