Shape, proportion and trim.

The depth of a pelmet, the scale of a scallop and the width of a braid all change how a window feels. We develop those elements with the fabric and curtain construction so the finish belongs to the room rather than sitting on top of it.

A pelmet can conceal a track, frame the top of a window or introduce a more decorative line into a room. Straight upholstered pelmets create a tailored architectural edge. Scalloped versions soften that line and can be finished with contrast braid, piping or a narrow border. The profile, depth and fabric are resolved together so the top treatment feels proportionate to the curtains below it.

Scalloped, straight and upholstered.

Saint Objets develops pelmets for contemporary, country-house and hotel-inspired interiors. A straight box pelmet can sit quietly above full-height drapery. A shaped or scalloped pelmet can become a deliberate decorative feature, particularly when the edge is traced with braid or piping. The same fabric can be carried into a Roman blind, curtain leading edge, tieback or upholstered detail elsewhere in the room.

For decorative projects, the scale of the motif matters. Fine stripes, florals and textured linens behave differently across a curved or scalloped edge, so fabric placement is considered before production. Where a contrast trim is used, its width is selected against the finished pelmet rather than chosen in isolation.

Pelmet, valance or cornice?

A pelmet is a structured top treatment fixed above curtains or blinds, usually upholstered or fabric covered. A valance is typically softer and textile-led, while a cornice is the more architectural relation, often formed in timber or another rigid finish. Saint Objets uses the treatment that suits the room, with the profile, depth and finish resolved together.

For country-house interiors, a scalloped pelmet or shaped valance can introduce a softer decorative rhythm. For contemporary rooms, a straight upholstered pelmet can conceal the curtain track and read as a clean architectural line.

Part of a complete window commission.

Pelmets and decorative finishes are specified as part of a wider curtain or blind project. For full-height curtains, sheers, Roman blinds, roller blinds, blackout options, measurement and fitting, visit Curtains & Blinds Dubai.

A straight or upholstered pelmet can also conceal a motorized curtain track, allowing the automation to disappear behind the top treatment while the curtain remains the visual focus.

For windows that need a compact textile treatment, see Roman Blinds Dubai. Measurement and fitting are arranged by appointment in Dubai and across the UAE.

For residences and projects.

The studio can develop a single pelmet or coordinate decorative window finishes across a residence, villa or hospitality project. A quotation begins with photographs, approximate window dimensions, the number of openings, preferred fabrics and the desired style. Final measurements and construction details are confirmed before making.

Pelmet questions.

What is a curtain pelmet?
A curtain pelmet is a structured treatment fitted above curtains or blinds. It can conceal the track and hardware, frame the top of the window and introduce an upholstered or decorative finish.
Can a pelmet be made in the same fabric as the curtains?
Yes. The pelmet can match the curtains, Roman blind or room upholstery, or it can be defined with a contrasting braid, border or piping.
Do you make scalloped pelmets in Dubai?
Yes. Saint Objets develops scalloped, shaped and straight upholstered pelmets to measure, with final proportions confirmed against the window and curtain design.
Can a pelmet be used with blackout curtains?
Yes. A well-fitted pelmet can help reduce light escaping above the curtain track when paired with blackout curtains. The result depends on the track, overlap and installation details.
Can a pelmet conceal a motorized curtain track?
Yes. A straight or upholstered pelmet can be designed to conceal selected motorized curtain tracks, subject to the track dimensions, access requirements and final project specification.
Do you measure and fit pelmet curtains in Dubai?
Yes. Measurement and fitting are arranged by appointment in Dubai and across the UAE as part of the window-treatment commission.
