The motor and track are then specified against the weight and movement of the finished curtain. A light sheer, a lined drape and a double-layer blackout scheme do not place the same demand on the system, so the hardware is selected after the textile construction is understood.

Motorised tracks can be integrated visually into the room. A straight upholstered pelmet can conceal the track while maintaining a clean architectural line; a shaped or scalloped pelmet can turn the top treatment into a decorative feature. Where the architecture includes a curtain pocket, the track can be coordinated with the recess and curtain stack from the start.
