Curtain Styles and Headings Dubai
Curtain Styles and Headings.
Curtain styles in Dubai, from wave and ripple fold to pinch pleat, eyelet and Roman blinds. Saint Objets makes custom made curtains to measure, so the heading, fullness, lining and fabric are chosen with you for each window.
Wave, ripple fold and S-fold.
Wave curtains hang in a continuous, soft S-shaped fold. Ripple fold and S-fold are names for the same wave heading, which keeps the spacing even along the track. It suits sheers and lighter drapery, and works with motorised tracks. See our wave curtains.
Pinch pleat and its variations.
Pinch pleat gathers the fabric into evenly spaced pleats for a tailored, structured fold. Variations include double and triple pinch pleat, also called French pleat, pencil pleat, a narrower and denser gather, goblet pleat, with a rounded cup shape, and box pleat, with flat squared folds. Fullness and heading are specified with the studio.
Eyelet, tab top and rod pocket.
Eyelet
Eyelet curtains hang from metal rings set into the fabric and slide on a rod, with an even, relaxed fold.
Tab top
Tab top curtains hang from fabric loops on a pole, for a more casual look.
Rod pocket
Rod pocket curtains slide on a pole through a sewn channel at the top of the fabric.
Blinds and pelmets.
Roman blinds fold into flat pleats when raised. Roller blinds are a flat fabric on a roller. Zebra blinds alternate bands of sheer and solid fabric. Vertical blinds use vertical slats on a track for wide openings, and Venetian blinds use horizontal slats. Availability of each style is confirmed with the studio for your project. A pelmet or valance finishes the top of a window and can hide the track.
Choosing by room.
Living rooms often layer sheers with drapery. Bedrooms usually need a blackout lining. Villas with tall windows can suit wave or pinch pleat on a motorised track, and smaller windows can suit Roman blinds. Measurement and fitting are arranged by appointment according to the project.
Questions.
- What are the different types of curtains called?
- Common curtain headings include wave, also called ripple fold or S-fold, pinch pleat, pencil pleat, goblet pleat, box pleat, eyelet, tab top and rod pocket. Roman, roller, zebra, vertical and Venetian are types of blinds.
- What is the difference between S-fold and ripple fold curtains?
- They are two names for the same wave heading: a continuous, soft S-shaped fold that stays evenly spaced along the track.
- Are wave curtains worth it?
- Wave curtains keep an even fold along wide windows and suit sheers and lighter drapery. The right heading depends on the room, the fabric and the track, so it is specified with the studio for each window.
