The mechanism decides everything.
A sofa bed is judged on the night it is used, not the day it is bought. Most fail in the same place: a mechanism that catches, a mattress too thin to sleep on twice, and a seat that has gone soft because the frame was hollowed out to make room for the folding action. Saint Objets builds the frame around the mechanism rather than cutting into it, so the piece works as a sofa every day and as a bed when it is needed. Ask about mattress depth before anything else. Below ten centimetres it is a couch that opens, not a bed.

How often can a guest actually sleep on it?
As often as you like, if the mattress is specified for it. The mechanism is rated for daily use, not occasional.
Does it feel like a normal sofa when closed?
That is the whole point of building the frame around the mechanism. A well made one gives nothing away.
Can I choose the cloth?
Yes, from the full library. Cloth that cleans easily is worth considering here, since a guest bed sees more traffic.
